Starting out in the Pinky world! :)
|
LoggedConcerning ages, I believe they're not intended for too small children, considering the size of the parts, as the accessories tend to be tiny!!! (so far I only have at home the two girls in my icon - with 7 on the way - and still, the yukata purse and oden keep falling off and flying around the room all the time!!!) I believe they're for the same public of Polly Pocket... I guess for most of the public they direct the regular collections, and the limited and rare ones, like mentioned before with the Barbies, are destined to the collectors. Also, not related to the topic, but reading the messages I'm relieved it's not only my girls who lose their head out of nowhere all the time!

But I guess I could always bring a cheaper one... LOL. Totally. (Everyone, can just keep quoting this and post LOL first. xD) LOL, it's the quote of LOL. (OT, I know. ) LOL! Did I tell you my 17 year old sister loves pinkies? :3 my sister wont get any, they're too small. :( LOL! My 3 year old cousin loves 'em but I'm not giving her a pinky!

LoggedI'm 16 (not quite a kid, nor adult), and I love pinkies for customizing! To me, pinkies aren't as much fun if they aren't repainted or customized in some way! (my only ones that aren't customized are Pucchi, Evil, and Mikuru.) I was at the Kinokunya bookstore today, and there were two girls (I'd guess ages 9 and 6) that were looking at pinkies while I was over by them. Their parents bought them some of the series six girls...so, there are two kids who play with 'em!

LoggedWell, I'm 10 and my sister's 15, and we both love pinkys! But we do take special care of our pinkys and our parts, and I'm pretty sure that only a few, if any, kids in my class would be responsible enough for them. I think pinkys are for all age groups (except toddlers&babies) and that different pinkys and different parts appeal to different people. Well, that's my opinion.

LoggedI would have no doubt that children would adore pinkies, they're toys after all. Theres no age discrimination when it comes to pinkies as far as I'm concerned.

LoggedMine sort of travel to and from work with me, and when there stand on my computer. The people in my cubicle think they're cute, if a little strange. From that perspective, it would be odd if Pinky:St suddenly burst into the mainstream, because all of a sudden it wouldn't be acceptable to have things like that as an adult. So whilst I do love the fact that they do appeal to all ages, I'm sort of hoping they never get too big outside of the collector/enthusiast market. Does that make sense, or am I waffling here? Had about 6 cups of coffee in two hours, and now I can see through space.....

LoggedJust a question that popped into my mind when reading the post about the kirakira being translated and slated for sale in the UK. the only kid i'm ever around is my niece who is only 18 months old (so there's no way she's getting ahold of those small parts!!). but i was doing a photo shoot with a bunch of pinkys and a whole slew of neighborhood kids came over (and ruined my shoot!! ) and they absolutely loved them (these were all boys, mind you, and i had my girls set up as a group of assasins with parts from the weapons set). i felt bad because of all the parts they liked, most of them came from limited sets/releases (no weapons set for you, kids!) that their parents would never buy for them. so, has anyone introduced pinkys to smaller kids, say ages 4-10? did they like them? what did they think? this also brings up another question: are pinkys for kids or adults who like to collect? with all those limiteds (and a marker set that lets you customize), how could kids possibly afford/obtain them? My nine-year old sister has been a fan of pk st's for almost two years. She almost revolves around them!!!

LoggedLike many others I wish I had pinkies at a younger age. I would probably not be as responsible and end up breaking parts on accident. Everytime I place my pinkies for a picture or swap parts I have to be careful not to bend or crack anything... kids like to play rather than take pictures. Hopefully young kids don't break a really espensive one. That would be awful.

I have quite a collection of Pinkys....around 120

Logged I totally agree with "Pinky st figures are for all ages coz they are so cute and it will help you develope your skills" - creativity since you interchange their parts, clothes and accessories, customizing them & responsibility since parts are so small that they could easily get lost. But for those little girls just tell them not to put the parts in their mouth coz this is not edible/ could not be eaten.....they will understand and teach them to value their toys.
