I'm about to buy a new camera this weekend, and i was wondering how many of you always buy the extended warranties? i've had my sony P100 for over 5 years (i think?) and it's starting to not register light properly, but it's much outlived the extended warranty i bought for it.
how many of you have had your camera break within the first year or two?
I usually don't buy warranties, mostly because the ones I have been offered have never been worth the additional cost. Warranties vary sooo much, so reading the terms and understanding them is very important. However, I've been lucky enough to not need to replace my camera.
ever since I got into digital photography, I've gone thru 4 cameras. Not because they broke, but because I wanted to upgrade. They all still work without any problems and the oldest one is now over 6 years old. Generally, I don't buy extended warranties (I'm a firm believer that if you didn't claim on the warranty, you should get your money back ), maybe I'm just lucky? I never regretted not getting an extended warranty yet *knock wood* But I guess it depends on your usage and how careful an owner you are. If you keep dropping things and knocking them about, maybe it'll be good buying one
