Hey guys! I was just thinking how lame the presets for LJ emoticons are, and was wondering if anyone could possibly figure out a way to make the Pinky forum emoticons into an Lj emoticon set. I was wondering about this for a while.

Do you mean mood themes - ie; happy, sad, angry? I've made two of those ( one set of Ritsuka, and one of an original character ) and I don't think it'd be too hard.. just very time consuming ^^; It does sound like a cute idea..

hmmm... I'd love to have pinkys on my lj... I think there is a faster way to set the mood theme, I should check

Yeah. I can pixel, but I wanted to use the emotes on here. Can you just save all the emoticons on this forum to your computer and then use it as an LJ mood theme? How do you set it as the mood theme?

I forget the exact process, but when you go to the "Make New Emotion Set" page, there's like.. lots and lots of moods. They're subset, so you don't need an emotion for every single one. For example

Happy
- Excited
- - Jubilant
- - Impatient
- Content
- - Calm

would be a complete set of 'happy'. You would say, "Okay, for happy, use the  emotion." You could leave it as that, and everything below happy would show as  . However, if you said, "Well,  suits excited more..." then excited would show as  - as well as the other ones below the excited type of happy. So jubilant and impatient would be  too, but not content or calm.

It goes on and on like that.. there's a bunch, I never got pictures for everything - some emotions are just sooo similar, why bother? The files need to be hosted somewhere - I use photobucket - and you enter the url to the image location box for the emotion.

nanlady's procedure is the standard, boring, long one... unfortunately I'm going through this for the clamp emoticons I'm making, and I got bored already 
I friend of mine told me about a faster way to upload all the emoticons, I need to ask her again and then post it here 

   There's another way?! Oh geez, do tell! I like making the sets, and I'd do a lot more if it wasn't so tedious...  Please do!

please note that now the only boring thing involves renaming all the images according to the feeling you want to use them for  (i.e. happy.png, bored.png etc...)

now I should start renaming my own moodtheme hehe

Make sure you have a paid account for LJ or you won't be able to make your own custom LJ set. :( Or that's my personal experience with it. I have two accounts, one paid and one unpaid and the unpaid doesn't allow me to make my own mood set with custom emotes.

you just need to upgrade it to 'plus' (or premium or whatever is called, I can't remember  ), which is something in between a paid and a free account, and allows you to make your own mood sets 

i did this to my lj a while ago using the forum icons.  :P  i would link, but my journal is overly emotional and depressing :P
