Dont worry, its not as bad as all that.
Well, nervousness indeed, because as a few of you might know. I have been messing round with a few things trying to get used to how everything works on the modding scene.
My first project is as much of a test as it is an actual project. So theres a good chance itll be a bit...well...crap.  

Anyway, disclaimer aside, I figured the safest part to start would be to make an accessory. That way if I fail miserably, no harm will come to any of my Pinkys.

I have partially made a staff, kinda liek the ones youd see in some kinda RPG.
The head of the staff The circle will have a small bead set in it to replicate some kinda magical stone.
The staff itself. With Aya in the background for representation purposes. I knwo it looks a little wonky, but dont worry, its no actually stuck together yet. All the pieces (bar the head) actually slot into one another. That I assume will make better bonds when I eventually do stick them together.
Lasty is a random pic of my work desk. Various parts and trinkets I make use including beads and cystal slivers of quartz. And My Aya along for a size referance....and moral support.

Anyway, next Ill be painting the indevidual parts, then sticking them together. If anyone has any qualms, tips, or ideas...tell me. Im keen to know.

Did you use that mysterious epoxy putty stuff? And what paint do you plan to use?

Thats right, those beads fit in the hole. I was even tossing up an idea of not sticking the bead there permanently, so I can easily push the bead out and swap it with one of another colour.

I used Tamiya Smooth to make the parts. It was a pain in the heiney because it was so darn sticky. But I used its stickyness to keep the main staff part strait but sticking one end of it to the underside of my desk while it dried.

Ill prolly use Citadel paint. The comic shop near me stocks it, and I have a friend who has dozens of Warmammer books that detail painting methods and colour mixes. So I have been reading up when I go round to his place.


I have also been practicing painting on an actual Pinky part!
I havent quite finished it....I might try to do it this weekend.

oooh.. how did you make the staff to be so straight??? I've never tried making a staff before so I always wondered about that   you've done a great job on it!

I really like the idea of swapping the beads.
e.g. Blue for Water spell. Red for Fire spell. Yellow for Lightning. Green for healing spells (getting into materia from FF7 game now )
I checked out some Citdadel paints recently for prices. Can't wait to see how you do with them.
