Logged Wow, Jennifae! You went on a Nyanko shopping spree! What great, cute stuff! Congrats! Akane, your Japanese is great! The phrases you mentioned were perfect! I am by no stretch of the imagination an expert in Japanese! Actually, you and I are probably at about the same skill level (although you've studied much more recently than I have!). Overall, I found my extreme lack of knowledge in Japanese a bit annoying, but not completely detrimental to my enjoyment of Japan. My little pocket dictionary was ALWAYS with me, and most people I tried to talk to either tried to speak English with me or politely listened to the weird gaijin girl and then gestured to me that they didn't understand me. I definitely suggest having a good dictionary and probably learning at least how to pronounce common things before going to Japan. At least if you have the pronunciation and a dictionary, you can make the effort to make yourself understood. Now as far as understanding what you get back...........

Believe me, I'm not very good with Japanese.. I'm particularly weak with sentences.. I have a problem remembering what particle to use. The pocket dictionary tt I have, I bought from Kinokuniya. I find it particularly useful because not only it translates frm Japanese to English to Japanese, it also has useful phrases (asking for transport, medical help, numbers, months, going out on dates etc....) It also includes the phrases which the young ppl are using, compared to the older generation.. Time to work

Logged3. I would wind up selling vital organs because of my cute-things addiction. (The nyanko sets are 100yen! It says so on the box! I got mine for 6 dollars canadian! Which is like 600 yen! Think of all the kitties I could get!  ) But!! Think about it; if they're that much cheaper over there, you'll be able to buy 6 times as many for the same amount you'd pay abroad for one (!!). So, I don't think you'd have organ loss problems. ^^;

LoggedHeh heh... both of you can stop worrying about hijacking this thread. I give you the permission to! I love talking about Japan I love Azumanga Daioh. I got my hubby to love it too. Thanks to Poohshiko for recommending this awesome anime! My hubby's fave character is Tomo, and even though he doesn't admit this, I think he likes Osaka too! She's so ditzy, so adorable! "Sata-andagi" Osaka is my favourite character. Mainly because I feel like her most of the time... I made my lad watch it - he loved it.. I wish he'd stop telling me it's okay to be Japanese, though.. >.> *quietly robs jennifae of kitty-joy*

So, I don't think you'd have organ loss problems. ^^; Ahh, but you forget how difficult they are to find here. Yes I would pay 1 dollars a box there, but here I am lucky if I can even find two boxes. And there.. well.. there I bet I would find more than twelve boxes, which is two boxes here, and things would go downhill in a dramatic way. I would start hallucinating from the lack of food and start munching on my little plastic-food-kitties.. A tragedy all around.

LoggedAkane, I tried using the stickers yesterday... I probably used five or six. But my phone is so small, they didn't really work out all that great. My phone has weird colors too, plus the back of my phone is a picture of Rob and Neechee, so it's hard to put stickers back there and make it look good. But I do love them and will figure out a place to put them.

Won't use the stickers and handphone accessory" Mebbe you can paste the stickers on a diary? Or things which you use everyday? I just started using the diary... every drop of ink is like... ... like I'm ruining the pocket diary or something.

I used the cell phone stickers, and they fell off the buttons, which I kinda expected. So that's a bummer. But I'm using them! It'll just take time... most of the stuff is in a bag right now. My chicken nugget and hamburger kitty cell phone accessories are attached to my keychain now, so I'm using those too. LOVE NYANKO!

LoggedOh no, they fell off the buttons? I hope none was missing. All my Nyanko stuff are in my display cabinet, along with my pinkys, Ty beanies etc. Oh, you remember the pocket diary I was telling you about? My colleague was asking me how much I spent on the diary and I replied tt it cost me SGD 11-ish. And she was like, "I won't even pay tt amount for this diary. I'll come up with SGD 0.50." And I was like, "SGD 0.50 for a Nyanko 15th month diary? You kidding?" Of course I didn't say tt out loud. I was just thinking, it's my money, it's something tt I love very much, why would you say things like tt? I didn't let her comment bother me actually. But really. SGD 0.50???

I don't care if ppl whisper behind my back and say I'm being childish. I think by collecting pinkys, it brings out ure imagination. Look at all the wonderful pictures and stories frm this board! In fact, I think my photography skills, not tt it's fantastic, but I think they've improved slightly because I've been taking pics of pinkys.

There's nothing wrong with being childish when it's taken in this context. If you've found something that's fun that isn't harmful to anyone else, then enjoy it! You could be spending your time and money on drugs, but you're not, so... whatever else, good for you!
