Question about necks

I just got Ako!! She's so cute!  Sparkle! I thought it would be months before I was aloud to have a second Pinky, I'm very happy, but I have a question.

My Ayanami has a posible neck joint, but Ako doesn't, do most Pinky's have a solid neck?   HUH??

Yeah, most have solid necks. The moving neck first came out with the yukata Pinkies, and ever since Wild Arms [I think] they have been included on P:kyara and other special releases.

hmm
It bugs me a little-- they already don't move much.
I'm so used to fully posible figures I guess.
Still cute tho!

You'll see the movable neck joint referred to in the forum as "ball-jointed" neck or ball-jointed head, due to to the type of hinge used to make the neck adjustable.

Most of the regular-issue figures have non-moving necks. Newer "special edition" figures now have ball-jointed necks, but older special edition figures, like the Tenjho Tenge trio or Tsukihime Arc, have solid necks.

Opinions differ among Pinky:st collectors as to the desirability of the ball-jointed heads.  Glare

I don't care much either way, but it seems like after you dislodge the head from the original position it comes in, the ball is loose. My black Shana's head won't stay in any position I put it in so I kind of just let it be. Not a big deal though :o

I think my problem is that the ball is too tight! My Yukata Reina's moves nice and smooth, but I have the hardest time with Haruhi and Nagato.

I have that problem with a lot of my Pinkys too (one of my Sumire's bangs fall off all the time!) so i just stick a tiny bit of kleenex or something in the hole and it usually holds it much better. :)

If you stick her neck in with a bit of Blue-Tak/ Poster-Tak it should stay in any outfit just fine.  Shy or Cute

Random thought: I wonder what Gir would do with Pinkys...

lol, Sticky tac sounds perfect for this, it never seems to work when I want to stick a poster to a wall, but it could probably do the job for Pinky parts.

I must say I love the ball joint ones better (when they move).

When I opened my yukata moe on Christmas morning to see a ball joint I squealed in the delight of adding more emotion to my pictures by moving the head around!! Big Grin Big Grin Cute smile Cute smile Cute smile Victory Dance! Confetti

ooh i hate the ball-joint heads. the necks are too thick and i have to sand them down to fit into most shirts. the regular neck is fairly posable if you just wiggle it around a bit, so i really don't see the point in ball-joint heads. plus they make the girls look like they have giant chins!  Dammit ! not cute!

I feel the same way, but that sounds crappy that they don't fit in all the clothes, I wonder why they made them so thick?
