Recently, I've become obsessed with *Usamomo Doll*, a stuffed bunny by the Japanese company Mother Garden.
However, I can't really find any information about this plushie series~ I know they're distributed by a company called
Creative Yoko. Apparently Mother Garden makes a line of toy products aimed at toddlers--plushies like *Usamomo Doll* and her friends, extremely detailed wooden or plush play food, a plush seal named Sirotan, household goods like bento boxes and purses featuring their characters, pre-decorated dollhouses, and other wooden toys.
I found my *Usamomo Doll* at the FAO Schwartz in New York City, where they had a dedicated section on the top floor. They don't sell her on the website. I am unaware of any other retailers in the USA, but I know there are some.
When I tried looking up *Usamomo Doll* on Google I only got a few brief mentions in people's blogs and on a forum, then lots of international online sellers.
Has anyone else ever heard of this series or company? I really would love to know more. I think it's fairly recent (last three years or so?), at least, but could be totally wrong! @_@
What I've gathered is that the pink bunny is Usamomo, and her white companion is Usamimi. They appear to be categorized as baby dolls, considering that there are sets sold in bassinets and furniture includes cribs and high chairs. However, some of the outfits seem to designate Usamomo and Usamimi as older children instead of babies, but I'm sure that the age of the doll is up to the imagination of the child.
The doll itself is very detailed and made of a soft, velveteen-feeling material. Her arms are hinged so they swivel around and can hold positions. Her legs are positioned forward and her bottom is stuffed with beans so that she will sit up unassisted. Her clothing is amazingly well made and the designs are really cute! Even though they're aimed for small children, I think that if you like cute things and appreciate quality, she's right on the mark.
