LoggedWell, I just talked my mom into buying me a 36 color set of copic markers, setting her wallet back a good hundred-and-fifty dollars... I'm creating a manga, and I asked my friend what kind of poses I should draw the male and female lead characters in to test out my markers. She told me "Sexy poses!", so in an attempt to fulfill her wishes, the drawings below came out (They also looked extremely pissed off...I don't know why.). It's my first time ever using copic markers, so don't cringe too much. This is Caine (Yes, named after the pinky) This is Aido, I'm really dissatisfied with the shirt. I'm still trying to fix it. And his face looks crooked to me. ALSO! I want to see other people's created characters and/or copic marker work! Let's share art! Woo!

LoggedYour characters look good! I like the slim style! How long have you been working on drawing manga-style figures? I find it an interesting coincidence that you should post this topic. I purchased a set of basic black Copic markers (Multi-liner set #4B) over a year ago... and I've been afraid to try them out, because, well, I suck at drawing! I've always wanted to be able to draw, but my skills never progressed beyond those of an untalented 4th-grader. Fourth grade was... a few years ago now! Anyway, about two weeks ago I finally summoned up the courage to open my Copic set to ink the outlines on a pencil drawing. The colors are just plain colored pencils... the same colored pencils I had way back in middle school for coloring maps in 7th-grade geography class. I dunno if this counts as Copic Marker Practice... but the black outlining on this was my first attempt with Copic markers. And yes, even with the fancy Copic markers, I still draw like a 4th-grader!

LoggedThank you for posting! What a cute picture!
Incidentally, I have been drawing since I was little, but only very recently in a manga style. I really like slim characters, I feel it's the easiest way for me to draw, since I'm terrible at the actual human figure (Note how I never ever draw hands in my pictures)
You talk about your markers from the seventh grade, do you mind me asking what grade you're in? I'm in the 10th grade, by the way.

Logged I have another! I was kind of half-awake when I drew this, and I hate drawing these characters anyways. I have a world of sympathy for any mangaka who has a series with twins in it. HOW DO YOU DRAW THEM EXACTLY THE SAME?! Oh well, I tried. Oh, by the way, their names are Kaoki (left) and Meroki (Rigth)

LoggedI took a cartooning class in college once. Even the instructor, a published editorial cartoonist, admitted to having difficulty drawing hands, and showed us examples of how far too many of his own drawings featured characters with their hands either in their pockets or behind their backs. I suppose an advantage of drawing Pinky:st style characters would be that the hands are pretty easy to do! I see that Superdonut certainly has a handle on coloring with Copics! Nice, smooth shading!

LoggedI have many drawings I've colored with Copic markers on my deviantart page, link located in my signature.
I'm not the best with them, but ever since I got a book on Copics I've been doing pretty well. My color range is still growing, though...
