Pinky-News notes that Nintendo will stop making the pink DS Lite (and the ice blue).
So if you have contemplated a pink player for your girls, now is the time to act.

They're discontinuing it? Just the Japanese, or the U.S. model too? (I have the US model, it's very cute ^^ I'm normally not a fan of pink things either)

There was no Ice Blue U.S release if I remember correctly, so that is why I ask.

What do you mean by US model...? Just because all DS lites are the same (excpet colour, and packaging I suppose too.).

Well, I better buy a pink one, before they go forever...

I already have a white ds, but the screen is dying... and originally, I really wanted a pink one... ^^;

Black is really my colour.. but I'm tempted to get one just in case, for whatever possible reason, I want one in the future, since I can't stand scratches and such.. the tempation to keep my bank balance positive is higher, though.

US Region DSes are slightly different. They're not region-locked, but there's a small difference I believe. Nothing you'd see on the outside.

"Dying"?  What do you mean by "the screen is dying?"  I've never experienced something like that on my DS before...

Some parts of the screen, I have to hit repeatedly for it to respond... but, it's because I'm kind of rough, and I play my ds almost every day ^^;

My touch screen is all scratched up where the panels appear in Music Hour/Night

What tipped me off was the inclusion of the light blue.

A light blue DS was never released here. We've only gotten white, pink and black, along with a couple limited edition DSes.

Unlike Japan, where they have so many colors....    Though I'm happy to be the only one with a pink DS in my class. (and there's about 15 of us who regularily bring our DSes to school)

Haha, I also have a pink psp!!! But I got it for a christmas present from my friend and sister... they bought it from Japan.  I feel so special to have a pink psp, because there are none out here~!

Does this apply to Europe too?

I think there was a blue DS lite (or just the regular DS?) available here in Switzerland, but only as a package with one of the Nintendogs games. I'm still playing on the "old" DS (not lite), maybe this is a good excuse to finally get myself a lite version? (But I love my DS dearly, it's turquoise )

No, I think those packages with Nintendogs were the 'fat' DS models...? *searches*  Yup, those were only the fat ones. Light blue hasn't ever been released over here. (sadly)
