So I was trying this morning to set up my R4DS copy of Music Night so I could trade items back to my newly finished real copy of the game. I popped it into my DS, selected the game and hit play. It seemed to go like normal, showing the Dimple screen with Pucchi and Evil.

The screen then went black, and gave me this message:



I don't read japanese though, so I haven't the foggiest what it means.
I don't think it's "save file is corrupted" because that usually only happens when you load a file in games.

Anyone..?

There's a problem with the data, and you should re-insert the card.

That's about what it says, I tried putting it in a translator, but I ended up having to try translating it myself.  I'm not so good at Japanese, sorry.

Also, that's the message I got trying to play it on an emulator.

Hm, then I must have somehow accidently corrupted my save file.  Ah well, I can get the dresses I had on there again, I just wanted to take the easy way out.

That's the "trouble creating save data" message, pretty familiar to me as when I first started hacking the Music Night ROM I tried testing stuff in an emulator and always got that. Everything's worked perfectly on a card for me, but I don't have an R4 so I can't offer any help on that side.

You could try... sending your save data from the cartridge to your computer, converting that, and putting it on your card, and seeing if it starts. I've lost my links to information on that sort of thing, will try to find them again.

Well it worked nearly perfectly for me for a while. Just would always freeze when asked to save after the credits. So I figured that now I have the official cart, I'd just trade some items between the two, but this came up!    Ah well.

Oh, I had it backwards... I thought you already had the cart and were trying it on the flash card for the first time, or something.

Do you still have the save file on your flash card, or has it disappeared?

The .sav file is still there, it's the first thing I checked. So I think I may have corrupted it somehow.. 

That, and I don't know if it's the same one that I had been using to play with before.

I also only have one way of getting saves from my actual carts onto my computer (my gameshark), but I lost the drivers for it. >< No place to get them online, either.

I'll gladly test your .sav file on my card if you want.. it's a good excuse to play Music Night, not that I need an excuse...

I can upload it when I get home. XD If it doesn't work for you, then we know it's just fried. 

I will await that hour. Another thing I thought of.. are you sure all the files have the right names? (This might be more of an issue on my card than yours, since mine only recognises 8 character filenames.)

I'll have to get around to that later.. I got so busy last night that I couldn't get much else done. (booking a trip, fixing internet problem, homework @.@)

Weird! Well then, I'll try getting the ROM again. Maybe I corrupted THAT on accident.
